Sytrus

Sytrus is a powerful synth from Imageline, the makers of FL Studio software. Though I don’t use FL Studio, I use this synth a lot to generate a wide variety of sounds. I find it to be quite powerful.

There are different types of synthesis possible with this synth. Though this is intented to be primarily used for FM (Frequency Modulation) synthesis, RM (Ring Modulation) synthesis, plucked string synthesis, and even subtractive synthesis techniques are possible.

I will be covering these different methods in later posts. But to give you an idea, these are some of the different methods generally used to create and shape new sounds from synths.

I encourage you to go to the Imageline’s website and download the demo of Sytrus, if you don’t already have it, or own the product. Once you have it, load it up on your DAW and play around with the presets, so that you can get an idea of the variety of sounds that this thing can make.

A tip: The number of presets in Sytrus are overwhelming for a first time user, so I suggest you opt for a tree-view display of presets. This option is at the very end of the list of presets.

Once selected, the tree view groups preset sounds into categories, making the list more manageable, and easy to navigate.
